Fucking hell, it's SATURDAY and I have nothing to do but a shitload of homework. Well fuck that, right? I'm starting a new journal! Whoot, procrastination!

(if you can't tell I'm trying REALLY HARD to be positive. God, I hate myself)

Journal: crystalizedfrog Creative, huh? I'm turning into the crazy roomate who closes the curtains rueing the light of day and does nothing but watch tv on her computer all day, so the entries ought to be REALLY interesting.

Random Update

My dad's work decided to switch health insurance companies from Harvard Pilgrim to Tufts recently, so I've been getting a new doctor, dentist, eye doctor, etc. I'm not sure if I ever mentioned that. Anyway, yesterday, because I had to have an eye doctor apointment scheduled at the last minute in Harvard Square, it was decided my parents would come along and force upon me that birthday dinner they'd been so forcefully trying to push the last few days. So I went to the eye doctor's. Got the special contact lenses that I can fall asleep in withot worrying about my eyes rolling out of my head. Also bught bozarre librarian-esque glasses on a wild whim I will surely be regretting when I get to college. Also got new lenses for the glasses I currently have. The girl who did the regular eye tests, the whole 'follow the pen' and 'look straight ahead and tell me how many fingers I'm holding up in your peripheal vision' looked, souded like, and acted a great deal like Cameron on House. So then I decided to get revenge on my parents/good food by trying to find the Mr. Bartley's restaurant I had so adored with Grace a couple months ago (the really, really hippish place), except that failed so then I was like, fuck it, lets get Au Bon Pan. Except my dad wouldn't eat there because the sandwiches aren't big enough, but wouldn't say that until after we'd ordered (it was switched to 'to go'). So having sucessfully manipulated me into having to go out with them again for that goddamned birthday dinner, I am going to Ruby Tuesday's with them tonight.

That combination's kinda awesome. I'm totally picturing them all in some weird, weird movie together now where they're all like potheads and alcoholics raising a baby together while chasing wherewolves and doing funny dance routines.

I Feel Old

Went to the dentist's today/yesterday. Tried novacane for the first time (when I was little I was so terrified of needles, I skipped it). Went to the magical cafe + used book store at the library and found more magical finds.

This is the first time in a really, really long time that I'm not in Florida for my birthday. Still, everyone's predictably away. Grace with her dad on his tour. Tracey is Leomnister. Even with my mom here, it still somehow, ridiculously, feels lonlier than it does than when I'm in Florida.

A Great Book

Ok, so whether or not you saw or even liked the movie, you should read The Prestige. It has a modern day twist as well that wasn't at all covered in the movie that is both terrifying and heartbreaking (seriously, the 3 endings are so fucking crazy THEY WILL BLOW YOUR MIND), and a lot of the stuff with Bordon and Angier was changed.

This amused me:

Page 257, Angier's diary
I assured her I wanted her as much as ever I had, but she cut me short.
'I know what's going on,' she [Olivia, Scarlet Johanson's character in the movie] declared. 'You and this Alfred Borden are like two lovers who can't get along together. Am I right?'
I tried to prevaricate, but when I saw the determination in her eyes I quickly agreed.

I just had these two horrible dreams about death after finishinf "Cat's Cradle" earlier today.

In the dream I was played by Keira Knightly and I had a little sister played by Dakota Fanning, but my parents were the same. And it wasn't like it was a movie, though there was part of it that was, because thru the dreams were these commercials for 3 movies with Ben Afflek and Jennifer Garner and an ex-girlfriend and the movies were about staying in a relationship and the things that change as time goes by. And I think it was supposed to be the movie version of my dream, but that wasn't until later.

ANYWAY, the ice thing, the "touch the ice and put your hand to your mouth and die" thing was happening. And my parents had to go somewhere, so I was left alone with my little sister. Who turned out to have it on the cat. So then I touched it and staggered around and was convinced I was dying, and my parents came home and I was freaking out because unlike in the book (which I never once thought of during the dream) it was 2 seconds, took awhile to die in the dream. My parents looked a little horrified, but they didn't say anything. And I felt like sht.

So eventually i stumbled upstairs and layed down and felt so very tired, but when it didn't happen anymore I ACTUALLY CONSIDERED GOING TO MY LJ AND TYPING ABOUT IT. But then I decided I didn't want my parents to find me dead hunched over my computer, and in bad as if asleep was much better. So I stayed in bed. But then I woke up (in the dream)! And went downstairs and my little sister was still there and everyone was happy. but then later I touched my little sister's head and it felt a little like the stuff, and I wondered, but was still overall: relieved.

But then a lady (possible an actress from "Boston Leagle" commercials, or possible some other older, blonde actress showed up in my dad's kitchen kind of glowing and also, I seemed to think was my aunt (even though, my aunt looks NOTHING like her) anyway she was like with a look of sympathy "that's not how it happened". Which was in trailer guy voice: because it was a trailer! But the one with Ben and Jen which upon this pont I had assumed the trilogy was just a romantic comedy. But it was actually: after finding it on her little sister's head, Keira Knightly's character (me) drove into a building, killing them all quickly! (plus otherwise she'd/I'd die on the road and kill someone else- EVEN THO I CAN'T DRIVE (pathetic, I know).

Anyway so then I went back to the scene where I was in bed waiting to die , only it was a different dream. Not because I ever thought the word dream, but because it was more "this is what really happened, while before it was my parent's dream/the movies). And I sat there and idly wondered about violet light showing up (which is also a Vonnegut reference, except I was thinking it in terms of a fanfic where I mentioned it) or if there was an afterlife. But it was just black. And then I felt myself falling (like when airplane has turbulence and suddenly drops a few feet) and I thought I was dead. But I pretended it was just a dream because I was scared that if I woke up (opened my eyes) death would be horrible or nothing. I did however feel relief that apparently there really must be life after death if I could still think.

And then I opened my eyes and woke-up.

I feel a little like Bruce Willis. I wonder if acid trips feel like the first few minutes after waking were like (horror, conviction none of this was real, or that I was a ghost), only longer.

It was probably a bad idea to watch a movie about tricks at 4 a.m., but the pretty!

So I saw "The Prestige" which HOLY FUCKING GOD has good-looking people in it (I didn't even realize how distracted by it I was until I realized towards the end of the film that I had no fucking clue who, like 3 or 4 of the characters were...and not in like, a metaphysical sense, burt in a "hey, David Bowie's in this movie? Since when?" way). WHY ISN'T THERE FANFIC???? I'm trying to imagine a movie more filled with all the possibilities fanfic could fill and I'm coming up blank. But also, in a death match who would win: Wolverine, Batman or Gollum???

And is it just me or is Christian Bale god-like in his greatness? I mean I looked him up and the man's been married to a non-actor for 6 or 7 years, is all "save the wildlife!" and is CHRISTIAN BALE. I kinda want him to purposly run over dogs or something on his downtime. Someone that perfect should not exist!

Heroes finale meta of the sleep-deprived

I couldn't sleep and now its too late to bother trying anymore so I thought I'd watch the "Heroes" finale and write down my initial sleep-deprived thoughs and hope some of them are bizarre and/or funny so I can try my hand at heroes meta. And if not, well it gave me something to do than wasn't reading the creepy biography of Philip K. Dick and contemplating the meaning of life (to which I say: 1.618 totally kicks 42's ass. I mean come on!)

1. Poor DL. If anyone had bothered to tell him about how Sylar got his abilities or how Claire can regenerate, then he probably would've been smart enough to either A) eat Linderman's grey matter after he sucked it out of his head, or the less disgusting B) Figure out that if his wife can walk through walls when he's holding on to her, then Claire holding onto him or Matt might cause them to regenerate too.

But then that would actually require <strike>the viewers</strike> <strike>the writers</strike> HRG to actually care about their fates.

2) Candice cannot die. She makes Pretrilicest canon. My logic: she thought Claire would show up in HRG's cell wearing a chearleader uniform even though she's supposed to on the lam and blending in. She probably read the file they have on the Petrellis and wondered if it was nature or nuture, and thought: why not have fun finding out?

3) I wonder if Nikki's power is really to channel the dead and Jessica's power is really the super strength. In which case: another opportunity to live, soon to be missed by DL.

4) I still say Mr. Muggles is gonna' turn out to be a muggle in a shark jumping season in the future. The fact that he hasn't been mentioned or seen in so many episodes will only make it that much more fantastic

5) HRG is captured and has no idea what happened to his wife or son, but doesn't even seem to contemplate trying to contact them or asking Molly where they are. I have absolutly nothing to comment on that. I just found it hilarious. I'm not even sure why.

6) Apparently having your memory erased makes you easily forgetable too! See: Parkman, DL, HRG's wife and son even though I said I wouldn't comment on them. Because see: HRG's glasses are his superpower! Who can forget those?

&) Also, not to be the douche bag snickering at the end of "Return of the Jedi" about how all the ewoks are now screwed because of the fallout from the Death Star exploding will totally kill their habitat, but: Shouldn't all of New York now be getting radiation poisoning?

Ok that's all I can think about. Tommorow or some other time I'll return to my logical, processing brain abd not my sleep-deprived zombie brain of bizarre thinking and maybe edit in those "OMG, AWESOME" thoughts.

Holy crap, the mosquitos are going to eat us alive this summer (rain, rain won't you go away?)

I just watched the Ugly Betty finale.
Ok, first off: Anyone else reminded of Buffy (if you've seen it, you'll know what I'm talking about)? And also VM I guess, since Amanda and Daniel might be siblings-who-did-it. And Drive cause the actor who plays Hilda's fiance was in the exact opposite situation during the Drive cliffhanger. When I was watching I was thinking about everything that was great in it, and then the end came and WOW. I never thought it'd be the type of show to make me feel like crying. But Betty and Hilda's actors just SOLD IT.
